Latest Version: Beta, Patch 5  (revision 1260, released 2-22-09)

Major Changes
- Turret updated a great deal (and useable in non-teamgames).
- Loading screens finalized, with new fading once a match loads.
- New shopping screen health bar (top of shopping screen).
- Shopping Terminals have vehicle-like health bars, and regenerate health over time.
- New "Healing Ward" feature for CTF flag-carriers (unfinished). Crouch and hold still to charge up a healing blast that effects all nearby players.

Weapons
- Sniper Cannon can kill at point-blank again.
- Grenade max fire-rate reduced.
- Various Destroyer tweaks...
- Various Combat Glove tweaks...
- The Translocator has much better aim.

Menu/Interface
- New loading screen help tips (also readable via the shopping screen's Help button, and the ESC menu's Help tab)

Other
- In team-games, excess money over $10,000 is now distributed evenly among teammates.
- The Survival Bonus now remains active as long as you are "surviving", rather than being spent as soon as you make a kill with it.
- Stamina regenerates a little faster.
- New decals for all explosions.
- Warranties now transfer properly when picking up already-owned guns that have different warranty types than yours.

Beta, Patch 4  (revision 1188, released 11-4-08)

Major Changes
- When the Shopping Shield is destroyed, your shopping session is now finalized and submitted, rather than canceled.
- New Auto-Updater
- New Crosshair system (expands like most other games, rather than simply enlarging. Each arm of the reticle expands separately)
- New Turret (work-in-progress)
- New update-notification button on main menu screen, when patches are available (handy especially for Mac users).
- When killed, Warranties now give 50% of weapon/ammo/warranty value, rather than full value.
- Ingame Music and Menu Music now have their own volume sliders.
- Mines of all types can no longer be placed directly on/around Health/Armor pickups and Shopping Terminals.
- Dying from headshots now has the camera follow your head.
- Being gibbed/headshotted now uses red screenwash effects.
- Shields are now stackable (up to 200).
- Each step in the Multi-Kill ladder now gives you $200.
- Each step in the Killing-Spree ladder now gives you $500.

AI
- Bots now pick up dropped weapons.
- Bots now shop when they reach 0 ammo (if they have money).
- Bots no longer pwn so much with the Melee Piston.
- Bots use the Stamina system now.
- Bots no longer buy max amount of ammo.
- Bots choose various types of Combat Glove now, rather than always using the Melee Piston.


Weapons
- Selling the weapon you're holding will no longer leave you holding nothing.
- The Shotgun now deals 9 damage per pellet (was 7).
- Destroyer alt-fire visuals updated, and other minor adjustments.
- Destroyer alt-fire deals less damage now.
- The AP Minigun is less accurate.
- Tons of Combat Glove sound/animation tweaks. (less chicken sounds)
- Grenades now detonate after 3 seconds, rather than 5.
- Mines now show the name of their owner, when looked at.

Menu/Interface
- Shopping screen sounds no longer cut each other off.
- Acid Damage Bar changes are now smooth.

Other
- Force-Feedback now works.
- Ragdoll impact sounds are a lot more frequent and natural.
- Sprinting online doesn't get stuck anymore.
- Fixed bomb indicator in Bombing Run.

Beta, Patch 3  (revision 1042, released 9-7-08)

Major Changes
- Weapon prices rebalanced, and shopping list rearranged to suit.
- The ZIP version of Gunreal now notifies you of updates on the main menu screen. When there's an update, a download button will appear in the bottom-left.
- There is a new type of warranty (green W icon) that comes with all kill-dropped weapons that you pick up. This removes the need to constantly sell collected weapons after each kill.

AI
- Bots fire the Invulnerability Shield much more now, based on Difficulty. (Novice bots = 40% chance, Godlike bots = 90% chance)


Weapons
- Crosshair dynamic scaling revamped (not finished yet).
- Proximity Spam charges can now be detonated by firing at the ground near them.
- Mines can now be individually detonated, by right-clicking (newest mines detonate first).
- Mines are easier to destroy when firing at them.
- New Destroyer effects.
- Destroyer primary ROF (rate-of-fire) is now 25% slower.
- Anti-Armor Minigun has a faster ROF, but deals less damage per shell (overall, same damage-per-second).
- Many various weapon-updates...

Menu/Interface
- Credits music no longer plays at insanely high pitch

Placeholder Turret
- Turrets work in Invasion now.
- Turrets temporarily disabled is non-Team-games (except invasion).
- Turret accuracy is more like Minigun now (less deadly).
- Turrets can no longer be placed inside walls, or in the air. They now spawn at your feet, and only if you're standing on flat ground.

Other
- UT blood no longer appears.
- Invasion Shopping now has all weapons.
- Insta-Gib CTF shopping removed.
- Bombing Run goals are now larger, so players and bots can fit easily inside.
- Players are now fully protected while shopping, even from powerful blasts that destroy the shield.
- Fixed the Double-Damage getting stuck online, after picking it up.
- Acid drain is now shown in a bar above Stamina/Invulnerability.
- In Last Man Standing, you start with an extra $1,000. ($2,000)
- Hit-Indication sounds can no longer play multiple at once (such as when using the Shotgun).
- Hit-Indication can now to toggled on and off in the shopping screen's Options panel.
- Various Multiplier Dial fixes (No-Kill & Survival Multiplier).
- Blood no longer spawns in the air on certain maps.
- A dust-wave now appears when destroying large vehicles with a powerful blast (leaving them with -100 health or greater).
- Various Double-Damage fixes.

Beta, Patch 2  (revision 851)


AI
- Bots no longer get stuck in most cases.
- Bot aim is no longer perfect (restored normal functionality - it was on a debug mode before).
- Bots crouch to get under things, if needed.
- Bots no longer run back and forth to terminals while trying to complete team objectives.
- Bots no longer get stuck on ledges.
- Fixed bots' ability to select Special Abilities.
- Bots should use the Invulnerability Shield more (not perfect yet).
- First person bot spectating uses camera smoothing.
- Bots know how to use the Melee Piston now.


Weapons
- The crosshair changes size smoothly (not finished yet).
- Left and center-handed weapons re-enabled.
- Tons of new sound effects for the Combat Glove (all types).
- New Grenade explosion.
- Plasma balls don't get stuck online anymore.
- Weapon prices tweaked (not final).
- Sniper Cannon accuracy reduced (aim shouldn't be perfect when your aiming reticle is still enlarged).
- Plasma mines no longer detonate instantly when placed at your feet.
- Destroyer ammo adjusted. Alt-fire drains ammo now.
- Destroyer beam does more damage to nodes.
- Pistol alt-fire is less accurate now.
- Fixed kills being reported as suicide when they are not.
- Landmines are now team-colored.
- Melee Piston no longer insta-kills.
- Swapping weapons now drops as many weapons as needed to pick up the new one.
- Shells and tracers no longer come out of thin air, in random places around maps.


Menu/Interface
- Credits music no longer plays at insanely high pitch (still placeholder though).
- Setting gore to None works now.
- Gametype list now hides untested/incompatible gametypes. You can show all by unchecking the checkbox.
- Money donation screen updates quickly and works online.
- Shopping in Assault works now.


Other
- Projectors heavily optimized (huge framerate boost for High-Detail players).
- Gunreal uses its own save-games for campaign mode.
- Money Pickups shouldn't get stuck in tight corners as much.
- Money Boost is now only available when you're under $2,000.
- The Invul-Shield isn't as loud, and gives off a bright light now.
- Rank sounds are more hearable.
