Well, Dario and I thought we would make an IRC channel (chatroom) for Gunreal on Quakenet, so we did.
If you're familiar with IRC, just log onto #Gunreal via Quakenet.
If you're new to this, let me explain how to connect via mIRC
(download).
Connecting via mIRC
- Install mIRC. When you run it, you should see the Connect window (image below). You will need to enter something for your Full Name and Email Address. These can be fake. Also choose your Nickname and Alternative Nickname (the alt is for when your nickname is taken). Ignore the "Invisible Mode" checkbox. It's not what you think.
- You should also see "Servers" on the left panel of the same window. Click that, and find Quakenet in there. Choose a server under Quakenet (like "Random server"), then click "Select". Now hit OK, and you will automatically connect to Quakenet. (if it doesn't - if the main window doesn't fill itself up with text - just click the lightning-bolt button in the top-left)
- You can close the Favorites window that pops up. It appears whenever you connect to a server, so that you can quickly find/save your channels.
- Now, in the window filled with text, just type "/join #Gunreal" (no quotes) in the thin bar at the bottom. Now you're in the Gunreal channel. Type whatever you want to say at the bottom, and hit enter, just like any chat program.
