I cure my syndrome

« on: December 31, 2008, 01:12 AM »

So I play gunreal alot now (thanks  Cool ) and now, my FPS is anywhere from 4 to 25.

now I'm quite confused. I try turning somethings off, but I have no idea what some do.

basically, I just want the weapons, gore, and the world to be at the highest, and I could almost care less about anything else.

so what are these:

Coronas

Projectors

and Particles?

oh, my PC specs are as follows... ( It's my awesome laptop =3)

Processor:
Intel Celeron M CPU 1.7GHz

Memory:
2GBs RAM

Hard Drive:
94 GB

Video Card:
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (224 MBs)

any help on what to turn down? or maybe its just that I'm running MSN and Xfire in the background?

Try turning off Particle Forces (at the bottom of the Video options page). It's not working yet anyway...

Other considerable performance settings that don't really change much that you can notice (if anything, for some of them) include:
Character Detail (turn it down several notches... probably can't notice the difference)
Physics Detail (just 1 notch)
Dynamic Mesh LOD (one or two notches)
Decal Stay (1 notch)

Alternately, if you want to compromise visual quality a great deal for a significant FPS boost, turn down World Detail (or Special Effects in the shopping menu - controls the same setting, just that nobody knows what the heck World Detail actually does). This is essentially particle/explosion quality. It turns off most bouncing sparks/debris/etc, but keeps the core effect.

Let me know if it helps!
