the discription of the heavy rocket launcher says that both primary and secondary fire homes in to homing beacons whatever they are attached to. but what are those homing beacons? i dont know where to find them.
and are the rockets of the HRL supposed to go in an angle? they dont go straight forward.(sry for bad english)

I think i can take this one. the answer is simple. you have to.. "WE INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM TO BRING YOU 8 ANIMATED SHOWS IN A ROW"!!!

lol sorry, futurama is great. I'm pretty sure that alt fire fires the homing beacon, and when that hits somebody, you press fire to home a rocket on him, which in turn will stuff his head so far up his ass, he'll have to wear his collarbone as a hat

The homing beacons don't stick to people though, they just do damage and disappear. I'd love if they could latch onto people, but I can understand it being a strictly anti-vehicular weapon. Blasting people with the primary is good enough as is.

About the HRL in general, the primary fire is more like a giant Flak shell than a rocket, since it flies in a parabolic arc, and the secondary shoots out the homing beacons that chase down vehicles and latch onto them. ONLY THEN can you can use the homing missiles by launching a rocket and pressing secondary fire again while aiming at the beacon you want to hit.

  • The primary fire launches an unguided rocket with flak-like trajectory.
  • The secondary fire launches a high-speed slightly arcing beacon that will home onto vehicle that was under crosshair at the time of firing.
  • Aiming at a beacon (red/green blip on hud) and pressing secondary fire will activate the rocket and make it home onto the beacon.

Hint: After launching a rocket aim at a beacon and press alt-fire to lock the rocket onto the beacon. The rocket can be locked onto beacon at any time, even while the beacon is in mid air. There's a "combo" that will result in firing a beacon and the rocket at whatever is under crosshair, and with some luck, both will hit causing lots of damage. See if you can find it Smiley

As with UT's RL best results against other players may be not direct hits (easy to miss) but shots at the floor near the enemy, killing him with the splash damage.

But then why did the beacon look like it homed in on the guy in the trailer, tho it hit the ground near him... during the slo-mo sequence?

Will this do it? start in an open area, launch the rocket above and to the left/right of the person, launch the beacon AT them, but before it hits them, press alt, and the beacon will hit them, and right after (depending on where it is) the rocket will hit too. but will the rocket still home in after the beacon "disappears" from hitting somebody?

No, once the beacon is gone (after hitting a player), I imagine the rocket won't home in on it anymore (but it should maintain its trajectory, so it still might hit the player), unless there's some bug that allows it to...

But, when this is done being implemented, one of two things will happen: either the beacon will stick to a player like it does to vehicles (sounds like fun), or the beacon will bounce off the player and sit on the ground. (and proceed to dispense a bandage for the player)

In the trailer, the beacon is sitting on the ground at the player's feet, so the rocket homes in and does what it was designed to do: manufacture Campbell's Tomato Soup.

What purpose does the folding HUD display on the HRL serve? How do you activate it, and what does it do? I've had it randomly start to deploy while testing, but have been unable to get it to do so on command, and I haven't a clue what it's actually supposed to do.

Folding HUD? You mean the shield that activates when you crouch?

So the HeavyRL primary fire is supposed to behave like a mortar and arc in the direction of gravity?

Yeah, but the final version will probably behave more like a Javelin. The current behavior is just too easy to smash other players with.
