That's right, folks... Gunreal has been bronze since the day we first fired the Plasma Gun (back when it looked like crap - the first weapon model we had) and will be going silver soon (beta testing), and then gold.  Cheesy

Well that is sure good news ... I am so anxious to get my hands on those new weapons! Cheesy  Hopefully soon doesn't mean another 3-4 months though. Wink

Haha, always the cynic, eh anuban?

I'm looking forward to this release as much as anyone. This has been a long wait - and it looks like it'll be well worth it.

Not at all .... I have been following this since Dario first announced it way back when and I always knew he would pull it off ... I am just joking with him about his thinking he would be able to stay on schedule and his learning how it is when it comes to creating a mod with multiple people.   It's hard to give an actual release date and he learned that.  Now we wait but the wait was worth it because we are so very close. Yeah, I hear ya. Just poking fun.

If gunreal is anywhere near as good as it looks to be, it'll be a staple with our local lan group for years.

Ahh new forumage, glad to hear that its entered the final stages Dario, this is SO gonna be one of the best out there  Grin
Cant remember the time I watched that first trailer, but man was I hooked when I did.

I await news of testing eagerly  Wink

Oh and one little question if I may, a question i asked back on the Epic forums about the trailer. For the new portion of the 2nd trailer, what is the name of the orchestrated music you used in the background? I've heard it in all sorts of games and movie trailers and i was just wondering if you could elighten me a little  Smiley

Hi Locke. Smiley Yes, testing is just around the corner. I'm going to record a video outlining testing, and then make a tutorial video on how to play the game effectively, for noobs and curious folks out there who need a leg up on how the game works, once they get installed. I plan to have the updater launch the tutorials on the web while patches are downloading, so you can watch while waiting. We already have a fail-safe feature that launches the web if updating fails completely, so you can get the latest patches manually if needed (not that we expect the updater to ever, ever fail, but you've gotta be safe).

Imagine the videos as widescreen flash movies playing in a page that looks kinda like this one (http://www.deefrag.com/extras/1-template.htm)... just as soon as I get Gunreal.com posted.

Oh and one little question if I may, a question i asked back on the Epic forums about the trailer.

The music is from Batman Begins. It's by James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer (yes, two composers doing the score for one movie - and worth every million they must've paid for them). I listen to James Newton Howard on a daily basis while I work... he did Batman Begins, The Village (my two favorite scores for working), Lady in the Water, Signs, The Sixth Sense (all Shamalyan movies that I'm aware of), and a few others.

I write also, so I need something without lyrics (or I can't think)... Sounds awesome on 5.1 surround, with the stereo MP3's upmixed to 5.1 channels via CMSS3D. Got a speaker in every corner of the room, so it pwns. Smiley

That tutorial video idea sounds like a rather good one, seeing how Gunreal seems quite a bit deeper than most and no doubt there will be tricks and shortcuts galore to be learned, sounds like you got this covered from head to toe  Smiley

And thanks for the info on that track, it would have done my nut in trying to find it  Cheesy

Nice to see someone with a similar taste in music style, I personaly rather like the new Transformers score and the one for the film "The Rock" and "Van Helsing" Smiley

(Oh yeah and as for the 5.1 Surround thing, i know EXACTLY what ya mean  Grin)

Another little query if could please Dario, (yes im gonna pick your brain again Grin), regarding Gunreal.

Do you or did you have plans to have a good amount of bot support? I mean i've no idea how many people I may speak for but I tend to play the majority of UT games offline. Just wondered if you added it in.

If you made a point of this or posted anything of the sort regarding bots and the like and I've missed it then lob me a link and i'll have a good read Smiley

Yes, we put a great deal of effort into getting the bots to use the use weapons, movement system, money, and shopping. They can walk/sprint, crouch-jump, gun you down nicely, buy weapons / choose their special ability based on how much cash they have, and go shop at terminals when they need ammo.

Occasionally, we'll find a map where they tend to get stuck on things, so we have a list of maps that we're going to fix before 1.0 release. There's a thread in the Bug Reports forum (http://www.gunreal.com/forum/index.php?board=3.0) also where you can list any maps that you discover that have issues. Broken maps will be fixed, and included in Gunreal, causing the game to ignore the original UT2004 ones. (unless you play UT2004, in which it won't see the Gunreal ones, so you can still play online, etc) Fairly foolproof, I think.

Awsome, thats what I hoped to hear  Cheesy

I'll be sure to go through the maps with a fine toothed Combat Glove to see if the bots have any troubles and i'll post em when you release Gunreal  Wink

Nevermind, I got the wrong file. it's all good and the speed is a lil on the walking rather than running speed. but otherwise? I love this so far, I've had no issues with it yet myself. I've played single player mode using a custom map based off of duke nuke em and it runs like a dream.
